The Capitol Condos

We’re supposed to be excited, I think, that IN8 has been convinced to redesign (i.e. reduce the height of) the condominium tower planned for the old Capitol Theatre site on lower Princess Street. But the nearly-approved building resembles more than anything else a fully loaded container ship. I mean, look at it. It’s a tower that might, if you cut the wrong cable, drift and block traffic for weeks. You build that and it won’t be a month before someone sprays “Evergreen” right where it used to announce film titles. This is an awful-looking building. Size matters, sure, I’m with you, but I’d also rather a mile-high diamond than this juvenile sort of Lego-build.
