The Essentials
A splendid, like-new west-end three-bedroom townhome with a finished walkout basement and no rear neighbours.
The Bigger Picture
We could just repeat The Essentials from above, if you like: A splendid, like-new west-end three-bedroom townhome with a finished walkout basement and no rear neighbours. Maybe we do that two or three times until you jump in the car and drive right to the house with your bags. Job done. Because truth is, you likely don’t need to know much more. In this mad market, a chance to live close to the action in a nearly maintenance-free and immaculate home that’s on offer for less than the average selling price just doesn’t come along very often. It’s lightning in a bottle. A comet flashing across the night sky.
Well perhaps it isn’t quite that dramatic. But it certainly is a smart, ridiculously well-preserved and well-built townhome at a reasonable price. Tucked away on a quiet street convenient to all of the west end’s attractions, 950 Swanfield feels like a model home, or a come-to-life dictionary illustration of easy living. With a separate den or office and an open floor plan, as well as sliding doors out to a raised deck, a two-piece bathroom and inside access to the garage, this it’s a smart main floor with everything in the right place. Upstairs the principal bedroom is at the back of the house with a three-piece ensuite. You’re set nicely apart from the kids. And the basement rec room is big and bright and well-finished, with direct exit to the garden. There’s laundry down there too, and loads of good storage. It’s everything you need, is what we’re saying, and it’s exactly where you want it.
I was listening to music while I wrote this. I was all over the place: 70s punk and 80s New Wave. Folk rock and math rock. I ended up with Fleetwood Mac which, to be honest, happens about as rarely for me as the comet I mentioned much earlier. They’re not usually my thing. But this evening it just sounded right. The head-shakingly perfect arrangements, the smart narrative arcs, the immaculate production. Everything (and I’ve said this before, I think) in precisely the right place. Sort of like this house, come to think of it. And so there you go, I’ll end with this: 950 Swanfield St is the Fleetwood Mac of homes. More Rumours than Tusk maybe, but that’s okay. It’s a perennial bestseller for good reason.
