358 Queen Mary Rd #502 - SOLD

The Essentials

A very well-looked-after fifth-floor two-bedroom mid-town condominium with views over pretty green space.

The Bigger Picture

The Rideau Trail runs past the front door of the building, which strikes me as pretty fantastic. And the suite itself has western views over the Little Cataraqui Creek. It’s really easy to get the feeling you’ve left the city behind, despite being, what, a hundred yards from Bath Road and the bus stop on the corner? You’re a ten-minute ride from downtown and about the same from the west-end mall.

The creek has, to my mind, always marked the separation between the city and the suburbs and in that sense 358 Queen Mary Road has the best of both worlds. The light is different along that border, the birdsong more pronounced, the air more still, all the heartbeats are a fraction slower.

The suite itself is vacant, so you can move right in. The two bedrooms are large and the light rushes in like water. I’d be out on the balcony half the year at least, or pulling my bike out of the downstairs locker and heading north on the trail for Ottawa. There is coin laundry and there are two exclusive-use parking spots. It’s a very good, professionally-run building. It’s also a convenient refuge from the daily grind, in other words, and a solid investment in your future. Either way, it seems to me if you choose this one you’re all set.

(The tour here was shot when the tenant was still in place. It’s vacant now, and the accent walls in the living room have been repainted. I was in there this afternoon hanging a few pictures, just to take the chill off, and it looks great in there - inviting and warm. The last few shots in the gallery below give a good sense of the place as it is now, while you read this. )
